Microphone Pretend Play Craft

The drummer needs a drum, the guitarist needs a guitar, and the lead singer needs a microphone!

Level Of Difficulty: EasyMediumDifficult

Time To Prepare: Under 1 Hour

Time Until Ready: Under 1 Hour

Recommended Age: 3 to 8 years

The drummer needs a drum, the guitarist needs a guitar, and the lead singer needs a microphone! It’s way easier (and much more fun) to be the lead singer when you have the right equipment. Watch your little rockstar put on a memorable concert with their one-of-a-kind microphone.

What you need:

  • Cardboard tube from plastic wrap (clear plastic food wrap)
  • Aluminum foil
  • Duct tape
  • Scissors
  • Foam ball (We used 2.5 inch floral foam balls from the craft store)
  • Optional (paint, markers, crayons, stickers, paint brush)

Step 1

Cut cardboard tube in half.

Step 2

Decorate the cardboard tube with your favorite craft supplies. (We painted one and used card stock on the other).

Step 3

Place the styrofoam ball at the top of the cardboard tube and tape it in place.

Step 4

Wrap aluminum foil around the styrofoam ball.

Step 5

The foil needs to overlap onto the cardboard tube enough that it can be duct taped onto the tube (about 1/2 inch). You may need to trim the excess foil prior to taping it to the tube.

Gather the band and head for the stage. It’s show time!
