This easy to make bird feeder will attract birds right up to your house. If you vary the types of seeds you put out, you’ll attract many types of birds and can become an expert bird watcher.

What is needed:

  • Craft sticks (we used 42)
  • Craft paint
  • Paint brush
  • Craft glue
  • String (2 pieces, each about 3ft long)
  • Newspaper or craft paper to contain the mess
  • Bird seed

Step 1

Cover your work area with paper.

Step 2

Paint the craft sticks and let them dry.

To make the base of the feeder, line up craft sticks side by side (we used 8). Glue 2 sticks across as the anchor.

Place a drop of glue on the corner of each craft stick.

Step 5

Begin to build the sides of the bird feeder by adding and glueing sticks around the frame of the feeder. Continue until the sides reach the height desired. (Ours was 7 sticks high).

Step 6

Set aside to dry.

Step 7

Once dry, slip the string between one of the layers of sticks. Slide the string to the other side of the feeder. Tie the loose ends together. Repeat the process at the other end of the feeder.

Step 8

Find a great spot to hang your bird feeder. Add bird seed and get ready for your very own bird watching expedition!
