  • Pipe cleaners or mini craft sticks

Step 1

Have the kids decorate the cupcake liner and craft stick (the tutu). I outlined a leotard on the craft stick to finish the ballerina outfit. The girls colored it added shoes, eyes, and a smile.

Step 2

While they decorated, I made the hair. Cut 5 pieces of yard, each 3 inches long. Fold 4 of them in half. Tie the last piece of yarn around the other 4, about 1/2” from the fold line.

Step 3

Once the tutu is ready, cut a small slit into the middle of the liner.

Step 4

Slide the craft stick into the hole of the cupcake liner. Position the liner at the bottom of the drawn leotard. On the underside of the cupcake liner, apply a small strip of glue. Fold liner down into the glue and let dry for a minute.

Step 5

Glue hair to the top of the craft stick. Glue the pipe cleaner to the back of the craft stick, at a level appropriate for arms. Allow to dry.

Tip: The pipe cleaner needed a lot of glue to stay put. If you have a glue gun, it will hold quicker than regular glue. Also, I used a large binder clip to hold the hair in place until it dried.
