Add to your astronaut’s pretend play fun with this fantastic Flying Saucer Space Ship craft. It’s the perfect activity to do with your child, and gives your old CDs a purpose! Let their adventures in space go beyond the moon and into other alien worlds! Any alien visitor would love to zoom through the cosmos in this cute little UFO.

What is needed

  • Old CD
  • Plastic easter egg (or empty/clean fruit cup)
  • Craft paint
  • String (I used curling ribbon)
  • Glue (Hot glue gun or super glue work best)
  • Embellishments (glitter, jewels, etc)
  • Optional: Paint brush. (It was more fun using our fingers, the brush left imprints in the paint)

Step 1

Paint one side of the CD at at time. We used a bottle of glue to hold our CD as it dried and sprinkled glitter the the paint was wet so it would adhere.

Step 2

While the CD dries, paint each piece of the egg. Let dry.

Step 3

Cut your string to about 15 inches long. Glue the string and top of the egg to the CD. Insert your string through the middle of the CD.

Step 4

Place the top of the egg over the center of the CD with the string on the outside of the egg. Secure the egg in place by applying glue to the space where the egg meets the CD. Do this all the way around the egg. Allow to dry.

Repeat the glueing process with the bottom of the egg to the bottom of the CD. Once dry, apply embellishments.
