Do you hear that? Is that the sound of a gorilla swinging through the trees? Or, maybe it’s an elephant getting ready to charge! Take your kids to new imaginative heights by challenging their listening and matching skills while simultaneously getting your silly on.
This one’s for you too, parents, so time to stretch and get ready for some jungle play!
I picked an animal sound, without telling my daughter what it was going to be. After she listened to it a few times, I asked her to find the animal costume that matched the sound.
I helped her put on the costume. Bigger kids will be able to do this themselves.
I asked her to act like the animal (you may have to show the little ones, my daughter needed a little help) and make their own best animal sound (she is great at sounds!). Take a few minutes to pretend you are the animal in the jungle, acting like that particular animal would. My little one’s favorite was definitely the monkey!
Parents join in! Get on the ground, practice your best roar, and prowl around the living room while you let your inner child bust loose. This is a great activity to get physically involved with your child’s imaginative play – and get a little exercise too! I needed a nap when we were all done, right along with her.
