Roping cattle is a classic “cowboy” skill. Put together this great game for your little cow-pokes to play. They will love using the lasso to herd these cute little cows!

What you need:

  • Empty gallon milk container (3-4)
  • White spray paint
  • Black and pink felt
  • Black Sharpie
  • Black craft paint
  • Paint brush
  • Wiggly eyes (mine were 40mm)
  • Glue (I used a hot glue gun)
  • Old jump rope
  • Duct tape

Step 1

Wash milk cartons in warm soapy water. Allow to dry.

Step 2

In a well ventilated area, spray milk containers with spray paint. (You may need a second coat). Allow to dry.

Step 3

While paint is drying, cut out black felt “spots” (I used 5 per milk container) and one round pink felt piece for the nose. Use the sharpie to make 2 dots and a “smile” on the pink felt.

Step 4

Glue the felt pieces and the 2 wiggly eyes to the milk container. I used black craft paint to paint the lid of the milk container.

Step 5

For the “Lasso” I used an old jump rope and cut it to a size that easily fit around the “cows”. Mine were 40 inches long, I then duct taped the ends together. I made 3 of these.

I set up my “herd” in the backyard, placing them in a triangle. My cowboys stood a few feet away from the herd (depending on the age of my wrangler). They tossed each ring and kept track of how many cows were captured.
