Popsicle Safari Animals: How To

Safari animals in the house? Of course! These little guys are able to hide anywhere, making it easy to go on Safari even in the living room!

Safari animals in the house? Of course! These little guys are able to hide anywhere, making it easy to go on Safari even in the living room!

What you will need:

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Scissors
  • Pencil (optional, to draw shapes prior to cutting out)
  • Felt (light & dark brown, yellow, pink, gray, green, red)
  • Wiggly eyes
  • Craft Paint (Green, yellow, dark brown, gray)
  • Paint brushes
  • Markers (Brown and Black)
  • Glue
  • Cut all felt shapes for chosen animals prior to sitting kids down to craft.

Giraffe - Cut the following:

Yellow felt into shape of a leaf for giraffe ears.

Dark brown felt into shape of a leaf to fit onto yellow ears.

Dark brown felt into horns.

Light brown felt into a circle for giraffe’s nose. (add two dots for a nose and smile).

Paint stick yellow. Allow to dry.

Draw and color in brown circles (for giraffe spots) onto stick with marker.

Glue dark brown felt leaf onto yellow for ears.

Glue ears to side of stick, horns to top of stick and eye between ears on front of stick, nose to center of stick.

Monkey - Cut the following:

Cut the following

Two half circles from dark brown felt (for ears)

Two smaller half circles from light brown felt (to fit on dark brown ears)

Small oval for mouth out of light brown felt (add 2 black dots and a smile with the black marker)

Paint stick dark brown. Allow to dry.

Glue light brown inner ear to the dark brown ear.

Glue ears to side of stick, eyes below ears, and mouth below eyes.

Snake - Cut the following:

Cut the following

Circle out of green felt (for head)

A tongue out of the red felt

Paint a popsicle stick green. Allow to dry.

Glue the tongue to the upper portion of the stick.

Glue the circle to the very top of the stick on top of he tongue.

Glue eyes onto the green circle.

Elephant - Cut the following:

Cut the following

Two large kidney shapes out of the gray felt.

Two slightly smaller kidney shapes out of pink felt. (inner elephant ear)

Paint a popsicle stick gray. Allow to dry.

Glue pink kidney shape onto gray kidney shape.

Glue ears to top portion of stick.

Glue eyes near bottom of ears.

Draw a trunk with the black marker.
