When your little medical professional needs a snack, serve these white chocolate covered pretzel thermometers.  If their day in the E.R., hospital or clinic is too busy for snacking at the table, these can easily be used as a tummy filling pretend play prop.

What you need:

  • Pretzel Rods
  • White chocolate chips or Candy Melts
  • Candy decorating pen

Step 1

Melt chocolate according to package directions.

Step 2

Dip Pretzel Rod into melted chocolate.

Step 3

Place on Waxed Paper until chocolate hardens.

Step 4

Use candy decorating pen to draw thermometer hash & mercury markings. If you don’t have a pen, you can also make some icing with red food coloring and draw the markings with a toothpick.

Helpful hint: I found it easiest to decorate the underside of the coated pretzel as it provided a flat decorating surface.

I found my belief in the importance of pretend play through two paths. First, during my childrens’ formative years, I developed an appreciation for crafting, games and dress-up as I saw my kids confidence grow as they succeeded on their imaginary adventures.
